Just to illustrate exactly why this happens, this is the typical flow for proprietary software, all the development happens on the left, and on the right are the users. So there’s very little interaction between the two. And the group on the left really controls everything that’s going on. 

In open source software, it’s all together, you’re going back and forth, back and forth, whether it’s testing, features, releasing, bugs, all this is happening in a unified way. And that’s one of the reasons why open source is so vibrant, and so popular today..
